CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
What is Craniosacral Therapy? It is a very gentle and non invasive “hands on” therapy. Usually the client will lie on a treatment table (but it is possible to treat a sitting or standing person too) and I will gently touch you, either on the feet or on the head or put my hand under the end of your spine (sacrum) You may feel a deep sense of relaxation, feel a tingling sensation, heat or a chill and you may fall asleep.
There is no manipulation, I listen what is going on in your body, feel any tensions in your muscles, membranes or bones. Your body set the pace of healing; there is always only so much change as the body/you can integrate. As many people come with chronic patterns in their body usually more than one treatment might be necessary for your full benefit.
Craniosacral Therapy is based on several physiological principles in the body. All the body cells move in a certain rhythm, which is called craniosacral motion.
At the core of the body the cerebrospinal fluid, which bathes and cushions the brain and spinal cord, expresses this motion in a tide like ebb and flow; while bones, organs and other structures in the body each follow their own particular pattern of movement. This motion is so subtle that it is barely measurable with instruments, but the hands of a trained therapist are able to perceive it
How does Craniosacral Therapy work?
In response to physical trauma or emotional stress and trauma, the body’s tissues contract. Sometimes, particularly when the shock is severe or occurs within an emotional situation, the tissues stay contracted and a chronic pattern evolves.
Any stress, strains, tension or deep trauma, which have been “stored” in the body in this way, will restrict the body’s function and may give rise to problems over the years. The effect may be both physical (such as back pain, migraine, digestive disorders, ME or FM and other somatic symptoms) and emotional (such as anxiety or depression)
Restrictions in the body’s functioning show up in the way that craniosacral motion is expressed. Craniosacral therapists are trained to feel that subtle motion in the body, and can use it to identify areas where there is congestion or restriction. In this way they can identify
the possible origin of a problem by using the hands to reflect back to the body the pattern it is holding. The therapist provides the opportunity for the body to let go of its restrictive pattern and return to an easier mode of functioning.
This happens at a deep unconscious level within the body, but it occurs in the same way as we might take other, more conscious decisions. For example. if someone holds a mirror in front of you , you suddenly become aware of your expression and may well choose to relax your facial muscles.
As well as releasing the body’s tensions, this frees the energy, which the body was previously using to hold itself in contraction. So one of the benefits of the therapy is an increase in the level of energy available.
Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is safe and suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, pregnant woman and also in fragile and acutely painful conditions. Work on newborn babies can very quickly help the body to realign, especially after a traumatic birth. It safes the child from any worsening of the stress patterns later in life
Neurolinguistic Programming was developed to help by using the power of language to access patterns of thinking and behaviour which is not useful and transform those old ways of speaking and thinking into a useful and forward looking pattern which aligns with inner happiness and freedom and personal growth.
I am using NLP in my session in connections with Psychotherapeutic approaches and also when somebody wants coaching for a certain issue in their live.
